XML Special Characters in an SEPA xml File…what is not allowed and how to get around the issue…

It is best to please avoid any special characters used in the names of clients or any fields, such as: – / # ~| ü.

And even characters such as:

“&”, “<“,”>”, and ” ” ”

However, there are some work arounds to insert some special caharacters in an xml file, if you follow the advice on this graph from IBM:
